Beware the Uni-Mind

June 19, 2023

A definition of The Uni-Mind is: the power to mentally connect with anything in totality: a mental expression of unity and cosmic telepathy and the ultimate stage of enlightenment. This definition immediately conjurs up any zombie movie with the zombies moving in concert — not to forget The Invasion of the Body Snatchers — particularly when Donald Sutherland is finally duplicated!

Some readers might ask \”What about church services? Aren\’t they a positive expression of the Uni-Mind?\”  I can tell you after being a church goer for many years that not everyone in attendance is communing with a god or each other for that matter.

Not so in the Redlands–where the same talking points are replicated interminably!

For the purpose of this attempt I would like to leave out the definition phrase suggesting that the Uni-Mind is \”the ultimate stage of enlightenment\” — as that would suggest that Redlanders have achieved the ultimate degree of wokeness (a state of being they eschew vociferously).

On my most recent visit to the Redlands — every single Redlander I knew (and those I met this time around) asked (as if of One Mind) how I could live in California?  They believe the entire State is on the brink of disaster — what with the homeless problem, the drug problems, the illegal immigrant problem, plunging real estate prices, and, our budget problems.  These Single Minded observations are of course being delivered to the Redlanders by FOX, News Max and One Way.

On the latter point I had to edify a few Redlanders that California (Newsom?) extended tax payments for up to 6 months past the April due date.  The current deficit we are looking at is based on what was collected around April 15th.  We\’ll see if our wealthy comrades will come through for the less fortunate Californians and open their pockets wide come tax time.  I\’m talking to you Chevron and Exxon!  How long can you have a free lunch?!

When I\’m in Florida I think Sister Sue, Clive and I are the only 3 people in Florida with Left-leaning sensibilities.  Sister Sue literally  dreads returning to her home after work — as she has to run a gauntlet of Redlanders shaking American flags at her — whereas I endure the questions (previously mentioned) in every context I find myself in — whether it be in the weight room, the swimming pool, the tennis courts, or walking through the neighborhood.   For his part — Clive maintains a low profile — pretending to have been body-snatched when he needs to be.

Actually, the local Lee County paper of the Fort Myers area (The News-Press, I believe) — has had some rather left-leaning editorials over the years which have often pleasantly surprised me.

The Press was apparently punished by God who sent Hurricane Ian for a direct hit on this apparently too-liberal town!  But The Press still publishes!

And while I agree that San Francisco — once a #1 destination for tourists — has become quite the shit hole, that picture of a homeless person taking a shit outside of a San Francisco street- side eatery is pretty damn old (and photo-shopped for all I know).

And, while the homeless problem persists — we are trying to fix it without bussing or flying illegals to other states.  Not to say that illegal immigrants are necessarily homeless — but they are, aren\’t they? Mind your answers around the Uni-Mind — lest you too are absorbed…
