My long-time readers know that I don\’t think the next world war should be called WWIII — but rather, WWV — because there have been at least two world wars since the end of WWII.
The Third World War was actually the Cold War — when US and Russia kept saber rattling with each other using vassal states. The other world war (#4) is still going on — and that would be all the countries involved in stealing each other\’s technology.
As to this latest conflagration between Arabs and Jews, I have to wonder how stupid Hamas can be? Judging from what I\’ve seen over the years — Israel\’s retaliations to attacks should make their enemies scratch their heads in wonder that they would ever provoke the top military on the planet!? Israel never forgets its martyrs and still operates by the credo of an eye-for-an-eye and a tooth-for-a-tooth. The vengeance for this horrific attack is bound to play out for many, many years.
Let\’s face it — Jews and Arabs have had problems with each other even before Muhammed made the scene: I mean, what else besides a centuries\’ (millennia?) old conflict could explain the barbaric brutality of Hamas? I can\’t even write about the alleged atrocities — as I\’m sure I will feel as sick to my stomach as I did when I heard about them.
And pity the poor Palestinians who have nothing to do with Hamas and are already in harm\’s way as Israel exacts its revenge. Hamas has put the average Gaza-dwelling Palestinian out there as camel er, cannon, fodder…the Gaza Strip is perhaps the most densely populated area on the planet!
Dick Cheney famously declared that the war in Iraq would pay for itself — before the pipeline(s) from the Iraqi oil fields to Turkey (for American pick-up) were repeatedly sabotaged. In the end — the war in Iraq cost US almost $2 trillion.
And I can see Cheney\’s fond wish (RE: wars being self funded) manifesting itself in the current Ukrainian conflict. I\’m sure someone (Hunter Biden?) had fond hopes of getting those natural gas companies operating in Ukraine to pay for all of the American weaponry and hardware over there.
But Hamas attack on Israel is not as easy to explain — particularly when there are rumors that Israel was in secret talks with Hamas. \”They\” say that Iran is supporting Hamas — and that is probably true — though Iran and Israel were growing remarkably close until 1979 when the Muslim-oriented, Arab clergy took over Iran (yet another oil coup). That\’s when many an Iranian high-tailed it out of Dodge!
Iran would be an oil prize for anyone who can control it. (Funny that Venezuela has the largest oil reserves on the planet — and US don\’t like them either [even though they produce great baseball players]).
So are we going to go after Iran (which doesn\’t play baseball)?
We\’ve laid the ground work — or the water works (when one takes into account the Straits of Hormuz). We have a sizeable military presence there. But lest we forget — China AND Russia get a lot of their oil from Iran! And not only that — the \”other\” economic system on planet earth (BRICS) just expanded their membership to include three of the world\’s top oil-rich countries: Venezuela, Iran AND Saudi Arabia!
This is shaping up to be a nasty cauldron of boiling oil!
